It’s Complicated ***
Is it worth $10? Yes
Jane (Meryl Streep) has been divorced from Jake (Alec Baldwin) for 10 years and just recently became content to be alone. If only movies would let good things last. Jane's life becomes "complicated" when she develops feelings for a nice-guy architect (Steve Martin) while having an affair with Jake, who remarried a younger woman (Lake Bell). Writer/director Nancy Meyers (“Something’s Gotta Give”) has cornered the market on adult romantic comedy, and thankfully she does it well: The story is fun, warm and entertaining, and thankfully never gets too heavy-handed. The performances are strong as well, particularly Streep, who is boring us with how consistently good she is in every genre she attempts, and special kudos to John Krasinski ("The Office") as the fiance of one of Jane/Jake's daughters -- he takes a role that could've easily been an afterthought and makes it count in just about every scene he has.
