Hello Mr. Hudak,
I have to seriously disagree with you on giving Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole just two (2) stars and saying it is mediocre is just plain dumb. I don't even think we saw the same movie. I don't not agree with your assessment that all kids get excited about 3-D movies. My son has seen quite a few 3-D movies and has honestly been "not" excited about them. This has been one of the most I have ever seen him excited about and he has not stopped talking about it. We as a family see a lot of movies and he has been able to express his opinion about how this movie was made to be 3-D. As for being a parent I tell my friends a movie is good if only myself and my child have both enjoyed.
Please do not lump this movie with other talking movies. This movie was not just a talking animal movie. I think this movie taught kinds to not only dream, but to dream big because if we don't have big dreamers than I doubt we would have the wonders we have to day. My son dreams of being an entomologist and a geneticist. Should I tell him not to dream, believe me I had a father who shot down my dreams.
I do not think that the movie being about owls is a problem. Please if they can do not one but two movies about chipmunks or another movie about talking dogs or cats I think that doing a movie about owls is extremely creative. And what was the comment that "metal talons and beaks are nice" were we again watching the same movie. how about the old warrior owl who had scimitar blades attached to his legs or the different helmets or the owl that carried a type of dagger. It just wasn't about metal talons and beaks.
When you say that Zack Snyder was trying to make a film both adults and kids would enjoy and you saying that he hit the mark on one out of two isn't terrible. Your wrong plain and simple I went to two premiers in two different theaters as well as two different parts of Miami and I am telling you at the end of the both movies not only did I hear kids saying the loved the movies but the adults as well. And at one of the theaters the whole audience gave the movie a standing ovation.
In my personal opinion I think your assessment was entirely off the mark and without basis. I do not know if you have children or not and maybe that was an influence in regards to your review. I do read your reviews and in most instances I agree, but this time I have to say you are WRONG!!!! and maybe you should not review children's or animated movies if you can not look at them with a sense of awe and wonder.
