Your review of 'The American' - Really? I took my lover to see this movie after a romantic day at an art fair in the Grove. I suggested the movie after reading your review of course. The phrases, 'Clooney’s performance is hardened, restrained and the best of his career' and 'movie lovers would be wise to embrace [The American],' made it a no-brainer for to suggest this film. Boy, was I ever wrong? Both us fell ASLEEP during the showing........BOTH OF US. Dan, I have more patience than most when it comes to seeing crappy movies, I actually even enjoy a slow-paced, slice of life, film every now and then, but 'The American' was way over hyped and loved by critics for reasons I cannot understand. I think you, as well as other critics are in love with Mr. Clooney's charisma that by default rave about all his work......even, when it doesn't merit praise.

... i agreed... this movie sucked.. wow.. i have never seen so many people leave a movie while its playing. I for one pride myself in staying til the end... but this one.. i really wanted to break my code.. lol boring and slow and blah sucked. |
