The Bounty Hunter -- Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Christine Baranski. Rated PG-13.
Bounty hunter Milo (Butler) can earn $5,000 for bringing in his ex-wife Nicole (Aniston), who skipped her court appearance for allegedly beating up a cop. Butler and Aniston are okay, but the movie isn’t funny and plot holes undo any energy it has, leaving it flat and uninspired. Skip It.
Chloe -- Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried. Rated R.
Suspicious that her husband David (Neeson) is cheating, Catherine (Moore) hires a call girl named Chloe (Seyfried) to seduce David and learn if he’s truly unfaithful. Chloe’s actions in the end don’t fit the rest of the movie, but a strong performance from Moore and the intricacies of the story make this compelling throughout. Rent It.
Greenberg -- Ben Stiller, Greta Gerwig, Rhys Ifans. Rated R.
Mentally unstable New Yorker Roger Greenberg (Stiller) visits Los Angeles to housesit for his vacationing brother (Chris Messina) and begins a relationship with his brother’s personal assistant (Gerwig). This drama from writer/director Noah Baumbach (“Margot at the Wedding”) is a welcome departure from comedy for Stiller, and his naturally awkward screen presence is perfect for his performance here. But like the rest of the characters Roger isn’t very likeable, and the story goes nowhere for 107 aimless minutes. Skip It.
