Based on the true story of Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Michael Oher, a wealthy family in Tennessee headed by Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) adopts an oversized, undereducated African-American (Quinton Aaron) with a gentle soul and helps him earn a football scholarship. Writer/director John Lee Hancock takes the story in a predictably feel-good direction, but Bullock is brassy fun as the family matriarch and overall it’s a nice, simple and sweet story that works.
